Is stress all bad?

The problem with stress is not stress. But prolonged and habitual stress.

Stress is your inner alert system to signal your body to action. It helps you meet your deadlines; avoid the approaching truck; deliver that public-speaking engagement or make your best sales pitch.

When our internal stress switch malfunctions and we are unable to find a way to stop the stress signals, serious health problems start to show up. For example, research has shown that chronic stress can hurt the heart by increasing activity in the areas in the brain that controls emotions and fears.

Stress footprints can be seen in – raised blood pressure, suppressed immune system, depressed digestion, increase heart attack and stroke risks, aging and cognitive declines. In the deeper scheme of things, anxiety and depression.

Are any of these stress signs sneaking up on you?

Prolonged stress disrupts the brain’s synapse regulation

According to several studies, prolonged stress disrupts the brain’s synapse regulation. It causes you to isolate and avoid interactions with others, you become less sociable.  Stress can kill brain cells and reduce the size of the pre-frontal cortex, which is responsible for memory and learning.

Toxic stress can impair your body’s immunity and create new health problems or worsen existing illness.  Such changes may not necessarily be permanent.

Our brain training can build and create new neural connections and bring recovery to the brain and body.
